Lexington Wine Festival

We were visiting Farhmeier Vineyard and stumbled into a wine festival that was going on that day. It’s very difficult to take notes in a festival setting because you’re standing in a lot of lines and it’s hard to get a flat surface to write on and hold a glass and anything you purchased all at the same time. You only get to try a few things, too, because other people are waiting. So, here are my surviving notes from the event.

Odessa Winery
2466 McNeel Rd
Odessa, MO 64076
Lots of great fruit wines and even a jalapeno wine (Tornado Spotter). We wrote down their hours and visited the next day.

Holy Grail Winery
5505 Locust St
Augusta, MO 63332
Rougeon Red – good, dry aftertaste
Norton Sweet – sweet but not worth purchasing

Terre Beau
100 Lynn St
Dover, MO 64022
Frontier Lady – sweet white
Cannonball Red – Concord, very smooth
Giovanni – Norton and Chambourcin, sweet with a grapefruit finish

La Bella
11644 Flournoy School Rd
Wellington, MO 64097
Renegade Red – semisweet, light for a red
Sunday Driver – white Vignoles, Traminette, and Cayuga. Sweet with grapefruit.
Peace Out Peach – David called it “sufficiently sweet to be acceptable” I liked it too.
Strawberry Dreams – tastes like they used the whole strawberry, not as sweet as advertised but decent.
